I bought the Dually used with 380k miles on it. I have a over 4 decades of experience in working on cars but I am a newbie to Diesels, (so be gentle with me, LOL), and this thread is very relevant to what I am about to do to my 2008 F350 Super Duty DRW 6.4 4x4 so any advice would be greatly appreciated here, (if any of you guys are still following this forum). '08 F-350 SRW LB, King Ranch, S&B, Diamond Eye DPF/DOC delete, H&S MiniMaxx, BuckStop Bumper, Warn Winch, too much fuel, not enough cash. Thanks for the late night support Casey, and if someone from H&S is reading this, give that man a raise! I didn't even KNOW about the 45-minute timeout had Casey not told me. It's not necessary to tow your truck to the dealership to get back to factory. If this happens to you, do the non-DPF tune install, and wait for the 45-minute timeout. The next morning, it fired right up! Casey saved my bacon. So I followed his instructions, and let the truck sit all night. So the prospect of me having to uninstall everything, deal with them over why my truck's dead and why there's WD-40 sprayed all over the DPF sensors and pipe had my totally stressed out. My dealership and I aren't exactly friendly over the 11B23 issues, and they're the only game in town. Casey from H&S replies in within MINUTES, and says to re-install the non-DPF tunes AGAIN, and wait 45 minutes, sayingĬlick to expand.I'm absolutely flabbergasted that he replied, much less so quickly and with suggestions to HELP. Keep in mind, it's almost midnight at this point. I email them with a "oh, no! What do I do now" email. This is where H&S earned my business for some time to come. Truck still won't even try to start! I'd read the stories here and on other forums about folks having to have their trucks towed in and flashed over again because they didn't buy a tuner or didn't install the tune first, so I knew I was in a jam. I quickly do the non-DPF programming, and try to start it up. Oh NO! I'd forgotten to RE-program the truck with non-DPF tunes! And now it won't even TRY to start! After 10 seconds the truck went to "Clean Exhaust Filter mode" and began belching smoke. Everything buttoned up - check", and started up the truck. I thought to myself "Tuner installed - Check. It's late at night, but just enough time for a shakedown drive. I immediately jumped into the truck to back it out of the garage. Plenty of WD-40 and the occasional use of a hammer, and the DPF/DOC was out and the new pipe in! After loving the power gains, etc, I jumped into the DPF delete project. Just because I could, I ran the MiniMaxx for a few days before I was able to get around to pulling the DPF/DOC (the fact MiniMaxx works with and without DPF, works on other diesels (Chevy/Dodge), doesn't require me to reinstall the sensors and works with other people's tunes is what sold me). After weighing the options, I chose a H&S Performance MiniMaxx tuner and Diamond Eye DPF/DOC delete pipe. H&S Rocks, their product rocks, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone! Now for the full version.Īfter several battles with the infamous 11B23 flash, and coming to the end of my EPP Extended Warranty, I decided to take the plunge and remove the DPF. Short version is I messed up installing my DPF delete, my truck wouldn't even try to start, and H&S saved the day, helping me cure the problem. Thanks.First, I know this post is a bit long. My question is, does anyone know if this has been tried before and could it cause any potential problems? Less that $2 for package of resistors vs $75+ for a custom tune. So, I have drove truck around yesterday, around 100 miles, and all seems fine. I installed a resistor in the wiring harness to correlate between the two pins on the EGR valve. I went to Radio Shack and bought a package of 1/2Watt, 4.7Kohm resistors. The only solid reading I got was between two pins and it was 4.7Kohms. I went back out to my shop and grabbed my Ohm meter and checked the resistance between the pins on the removed EGR valve. The only fix that I found was paying for a custom tune. I went to the forums thinking that surely there was a fix. I flashed my truck again and made sure that I selected "EGR Components Disabled", but light was still there. I plugged the EGR back into the wiring harness and the wrench went away, unplugged and it came back. After install, the little green wrench came on the display but truck seemed like everything functioned properly. I recently decided to do the full EGR delete and Remove the EGR coolers as well and install an intake elbow. For the most part, I am satisfied with it and the canned tunes. I have an SCT Livewire 9625EOR for tuning with only canned tunes. I have an 08 F250 and have had a DPF Delete and EGR blocker plates on for a couple years. Before everyone bashes me for not searching the forums for this problem, I have, just to clear that up.
